Jena MacDonald

Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate

Meet Jena – Virtual Therapist for Teens, Young Adults & Adults Exploring Identity, Neurodivergence, Queer-Affirming Care & Trauma Recovery

Jena is a neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQ+ therapist based in Nova Scotia, offering online therapy to teens, young adults, and adults across most Canadian provinces. Her work is shaped by her own lived experiences—navigating religious trauma, queer identity, and receiving an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis in young adulthood.  She brings a compassionate, curious, and radically affirming approach to therapy.

Jena supports neurodivergent clients, LGBTQ+ individuals, women, teens, and gender-expansive folks navigating trauma, grief, burnout, spiritual wounds, body image concerns, and identity transitions. She’s here to help you move beyond survival, into a more grounded, authentic way of living—without shame, and on your own terms.

The Frameworks That Shape Her Therapy Style

  • Humanistic Therapy
  • Somatic Processing
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

Behind the Bio: The Human Behind the Therapist

(Because yes, therapists are humans too—coffee-loving, podcast-bingeing, deep-feeling humans!)

Comfort Food Favourite: Nothing beats Mom’s homemade chicken soup.

A Highly Recommended Read: The Giver stands out as a timeless favourite. It explores memories, grief, forgiveness, connection, and the profound importance of emotions.

A Go-To Way to Unwind: Crochet, knitting, and curling up with a good book and a big cup of herbal tea are top choices for relaxation. Creative outlets like Lego building, diamond painting, and other hands-on crafts also help soothe the nervous system.
