Relationship Therapy: Untangling the Knots

Whether it’s the slow drift of a long-term partnership, family tension that never quite settles, or the feeling of not being truly heard, relational stress can quietly wear you down. When your most important connections feel like a source of anxiety, it’s hard to feel like yourself.

At Women's Therapy Centre, our virtual therapy offers a grounded space to untangle stuck patterns and restore connection. No commute, no judgment—just thoughtful support from a therapist matched to your needs. Together, we’ll work through conflict, anxiety, and the emotional layers of family life.

Common Relationship Concerns We Support

  • Emotionally Immature Parents & Family Conflict: Stop "parenting your parents." We help you set boundaries with emotionally immature caregivers, unpack family patterns, and reclaim your energy from toxic dynamics.
  • Romantic Stress, Breakups & Marriage: Navigating the highs and lows of love. We support individuals and couples through relationship anxiety, disconnection, infidelity, and the waves of grief that follow a breakup or divorce.
  • Narcissistic Manipulation & Toxic Cycles: Break free from gaslighting, codependency, and the subtle control of harmful partners. We provide trauma-informed therapy to help survivors of emotional abuse and narcissistic manipulation reconnect with their sense of self.
  • Ambiguous Loss & Estrangement: Grief isn't only for death. We offer a space to process the unique pain of family estrangement, relationship loss, and "ambiguous loss"—the ache of a connection that is gone but not finalized.

Relationship & Family Therapy FAQ

Do I have to bring my partner to therapy?
Not at all—but you’re welcome to. We offer both individual relationship therapy and couples therapy. Many women choose to work one-on-one to unpack their own attachment styles and boundaries, which can create a powerful "ripple effect" in the home. However, if you and your partner are ready to navigate these patterns together, our therapists provide a neutral, supportive space for you to do the work as a couple.

Is this covered by my insurance?
Our team includes both Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying). Most Ontario insurance plans that cover psychotherapy accept these credentials. We recommend verifying with your provider if they specifically cover "RP" or "RP-Qualifying" clinicians for individual or couples sessions.

How do I find the right therapist for us?
Whether you’re coming alone or as a couple, start with a free 30-minute consultation. We use a curated matching process to pair you with a clinician who understands your specific goals and lived experience, ensuring you feel seen from the very first session.
